Accountants for limited companies in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas

Your accountant, by name.

Accounts, tax and payroll on a fixed monthly fee, agreed up front. You'll deal with me directly throughout, so you never have to explain your business to someone new.

Areas we cover: Luton, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Harpenden, Watford, Borehamwood, Potters Bar and Hitchin.

What's covered

Everything a limited company has to file, done properly and on time. Add the extras when the business needs them.

Year-end accounts and corporation tax

Statutory accounts filed at Companies House and your CT600 filed with HMRC, before the deadline.

Director's self assessment

Your personal return, planned alongside the company so salary and dividends line up.

VAT returns

Quarterly returns under Making Tax Digital, checked before they go to HMRC.

Payroll

Monthly payroll, RTI submissions, payslips and pension auto-enrolment.

Bookkeeping

Kept up to date in Xero or QuickBooks, so the numbers are there when you need them.

Management accounts

Quarterly figures and a short call on what they mean. Optional, and worth it once you're growing.

Fixed fees

Every business is different, so these are starting points. After a short call you get a written quote built around what you need, and that's the fee. No hourly billing.

Essentials

Very basic accounting needs.

£150a month

For businesses with straightforward books and not much going on day to day. A small IT consultant working through their own company is a typical example. Your year-end accounts and tax returns, done and filed.

A good fit if you're

A limited company turning over up to £3m. A contractor or consultant working through your own company. An owner-director who wants to speak to a person. Switching from an accountant you never hear from.

Probably not for you if you need

A statutory audit. A large group with several companies. The cheapest possible online package with no contact.

Free tool

Salary or dividends? Check your mix.

Enter your company's yearly profit before you pay yourself, and what you take out now. You'll see what you keep after tax, and whether a different mix would leave you better off.

Illustrative only, not tax advice. Uses 2026/27 rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Assumes one director, no other income, no employment allowance, and that any profit you don't draw stays in the company. Pensions, other income and plans for the company all change the answer.

About

Thomas McQuade, Owner

I'm a CIMA qualified accountant and I look after every client myself. When you get in touch, you'll speak to me, and I'll already know your business.

I've spent years as a finance director, CFO and CEO inside owner-managed businesses, so I know what your numbers should be telling you. Your accounts get filed on time, and you'll understand them.

I work with limited companies, contractors and owner-directors on fixed monthly fees.

How it works

  1. A 15-minute call

Tell me about the business, what you need and what you pay now.

  2. A fixed quote in writing

Within 24 hours. What's included and what it costs. That's the fee for the year.

  3. I handle the switch

I contact your current accountant for the handover. You don't have to have the awkward conversation.

Questions

Is it easy to switch accountants?

Yes. You sign an engagement letter, I request professional clearance from your current accountant and the records move across. It usually takes a couple of weeks.

Which software do you use?

Xero and QuickBooks. If you're on something else, we'll talk about whether it's worth moving.

I'm behind on my filings. Can you still help?

Yes. We agree what's overdue, get it filed and deal with any penalties. The sooner we start, the cheaper it is.

Which areas do you cover?

Luton, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Hatfield, Harpenden, Watford, Borehamwood, Potters Bar and Hitchin. Everything runs by phone, WhatsApp, video and email, so you don't need to take time out to come in.
